Third Single  Savage Winds  out now on Pastiche Records!

“Throughout, Carr channels the smoky vocals of Marianne Faithfull, the playful arrangements and organic rhythms of Pascale Comelade and the punky brass of Imelda May but … this journey is uniquely, authentically her own.”

Savage Winds

OUT NOW!

The third single, Savage Winds, from the Chunky Bitty Mermaid album.

This is a precious song to me and I wanted to release it as a single in January for a reason. Savage Winds is really the heartbeat of the whole Chunky Bitty Mermaid album, described by Vik Sharma as "A delicately strange waltz enveloped in mystery and pathos. It’s a song that beautifully marries complexity and simplicity in both arrangement and imagery – rich with dreamscapes of the sea and the hellscapes of modern life.”

Carnal is Carnage

OUT NOW!

I’m super chuffed that the second single from my Chunky Bitty Mermaid album, Carnal is Carnage, was released on 27th October!

Carnal is Carnage is a wonky, country-inspired punk song about how human beings get themselves stuck in an endless spider-web of addiction and consumerism, whilst desperately trying to seek answers to their own existence, like cold-water swimming, lusty affairs and life-drawing.

The chorus is a truth holler battle cry but it's still fun and is a genuine foot-tapper. Have a listen!

Storm in a Teacup

OUT NOW!

My debut single Storm in a Teacup was released on 1st September by Pastiche Records! I wrote this one as a nod to the media’s sensationalisation of war whilst many of us in the west consume sugar, drink tea, and tut about trivialities - all done with a tongue firmly in my cheek and a good dose of post-punk sax in the mix! I was really happy to have both Radio 6 and Radio X give this one some airplay too!

OUT NOW!

I am over the moon that my debut album, Chunky Bitty Mermaid, will be close on the tails of the single; a punk vaudeville escapade of narrative music set in a dystopian future around the Lea Canal in London’s Hackney.

The protagonist, Camille, is an algae and oil covered mermaid musing over identity, climate change and what it means to be in a world filled with sirens, oxygen masks and an encroaching tyranny. Imagine… ;-)
